We are a Greek natural rock production company with a multinational character. We were founded in 1979 and today we are one of the most important units in the production of natural stone in the area of Karystos, with 2 production units in the area of Melissona and export sales in more than 25 countries worldwide. Our firm was established by Georgios Kekis in order to excavate and trade the famous karystian slates. During the years we have proceeded in the cutting and the finishing-touching of the stones, for the best service of our customers. We practice all the contemporary methods of excavation, complying with all the Greek environmental laws and all the European restoration standards for the environment.
The name slate is due to the characteristic property of the rock to be torn into thin sheets in a direction perpendicular to its compression direction.Slate is a natural rock formed millions of years ago, easily cracked into slabs, and delivered in irregular natural dimensions. Irregular slate stones are the most commonly used stones for flooring outdoors such as in backyards, in the garden as paths, on balconies, in cottages, in fencing, in business premises, in fireplaces, barbeque, exterior wall cladding on the outside of the House. Also install wall cladding inside the houses, giving the natural look of stone to our decoration. It can be placed anywhere else we want to add to the beauty of natural stone. Depending on the order, the slate slabs are divided into colors and thicknesses ranging from 1.3 to 2.5 cm and from 3 to 5 cm. In other cases the plates remain in an irregular shape while in others they are cut into rectangles-squares.
Marble mining in Karystia dates back to Roman times. Because it contains layers of slate, it has become known as slate or Karystos stone. Natural stone is characterized by natural stones, which have the required technical and aesthetic characteristics for the production of finished products suitable for applications in construction, architecture and decoration. The area of Karystos has been known for many centuries for the wonderful natural rocks it produces and especially for the Karystos slabs that can either be cut to the dimensions of your choice, or remain irregular. The colors are green, black-blue and brown.

Our quarries are two thousand years old.
Part of our production of slabs was used to slate-cover streets and buildings of the Historical Centre of Athens, in Plaka, in Monastiraki Square, in Thisseio. It has always been our major priority to obtain and deliver the best quality of our products to our customers.
Part of the basic treatment of the rock is carried out in our quarries on the mountain, while extensive processing, cutting and packaging work is carried out in the processing and distribution area near the village of Marmari.
